MARLBORO-Marlboro Music Festival continues with performances on Saturday, July 20, at 8 p.m., and Sunday, July 21, at 2:30 pm, as well as free open rehearsals all week long in Persons Auditorium, on the Potash Hill campus in Marlboro.
Throughout the week, audiences can enjoy an exciting mix of repertoire for piano, strings, woodwinds, and voice, performed by Marlboro's esteemed senior artists and new musical leaders. Programs include music by Felix Mendelssohn, Joseph Haydn, Robert Schumann, and Johannes Brahms, as well as a pair of works by Franz Schubert.
Saturday evening's performance opens with the composer's "Mehrstimmige Lieder" for vocal quartet and piano, while Sunday's concludes with the famed Schubert Octet, a Marlboro favorite.
Each of the six works on these programs has been selected and prepared by Marlboro's resident artists, 24 of whom feature in this weekend's ensembles. They include co-Artistic Director Jonathan Biss, violinist Itamar Zorman, violist Hsin-Yun Huang, cellist Judith Serkin, pianist Lydia Brown, clarinetist Sang Yoon Kim, and 18 outstanding emerging musicians.
