WESTMINSTER-I am a junior in high school, as well as Rep. Michelle Bos-Lun's campaign manager. Among her many qualities I admire, her unwavering dedication to her community stands out the most.
I first got to know Michelle when I served as a page in the Vermont State House during my eighth-grade year. She made it possible for me to participate in this opportunity by driving me to and from Montpelier weekly.
Before voting, Michelle would be unafraid to ask questions about a bill or to fiercely defend something she believed in. Her authenticity and integrity left a lasting impression on me. Michelle's presence was a significant factor in helping me feel comfortable in my role at the State House.
Her commitment to youth manifests in numerous ways. She has introduced and co-sponsored bills addressing child care and renewable energy, including her work with the Climate Solutions Caucus.
In 2024, Michelle introduced a bill with student involvement from two schools, where students were able to testify in the State House. Additionally, she serves as the program director of the Bihar Educational Change Foundation, a nonprofit organization supporting the education and nourishment of children in rural India.
Last summer, while attending the Governor's Institutes of Vermont for Global Issues and Youth Action, Michelle visited the camp to share her work on restorative justice. My peers and I were deeply impressed not only by the impact of her work but also by how comfortable she made us feel as students.
One of Michelle's virtues is that her work with youth is not just policy-based; it is also reflected in the way she treats and listens to young people as equals. Her commitment to her community, focus on youth, and integrity have made her a prominent role model in my life.
If you are a Windham-3 resident, I hope you will consider voting for Michelle Bos-Lun as your state representative in the House for the next two years.
