Center for Solace introduces dementia-caregiver support group

BRATTLEBORO-Center for Solace, formerly known as Brattleboro Area Hospice, has created new support groups specifically for caregivers of individuals with dementia. These groups aim to provide much-needed support and fellowship for those caring for loved ones affected by this challenging condition.

"Caring for someone with dementia is often a demanding experience, which can lead to feelings of isolation and stress," organizers said in a news release. "Center for Solace support groups offer a nurturing environment where caregivers can share their stories, provide compassion and support for one another, and gain valuable insights."

Facilitated by trained professionals and trained volunteers, these support groups encourage open dialogue and allow participants to share frustrations, successes, and coping strategies in a confidential setting. This supportive environment aims to help caregivers feel empowered and less alone in their journeys.

The groups will be meeting biweekly on Mondays from 4 to 5:30 p.m., or Wednesdays from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m.

"Our caregivers play a vital role in the lives of those they care for, but they don't often have the time and space for their own needs," says Erica Breen, hospice coordinator at Center for Solace. "We are here to provide a space where they can find a moment of solace, connection, and perspective."

Registration is required. Contact Breen at 802-257-0775, ext. 112 or [email protected]. For more information, visit centerforsolace.org.
