VERNON - Join the Red Knights Vermont, Chapter II, on Saturday, June 14, at the Vernon Rec Area, 607 Pond Rd., for the motorcycle club's annual Ride to Remember. This year, they're riding in honor of Ricky Crespo, who recently lost his battle against cancer. Crespo was an active member for more than 20 years. Event registration begins at 9 a.m.

The Red Knights say they have more than $5,400 in prizes to give away. Raffle items include: concert tickets, lake cruises, tickets for zoos, museums, and distillery tours, a massage, golfing, and more than 40 gift cards for restaurants, ice cream places, and shopping.

One very generous donation - a set of Milwaukee Power Tools valued more than $500 - will be included in the silent auction.

All proceeds go to local cancer patients to help with travel expenses. Those not able to attend in person may buy advance tickets for the raffle items. Contact Erin Crespo ([email protected]), Joy Ellis ([email protected]), or Annie Thompson ([email protected]) for more information.

The cost is $25 per person and includes a barbecue lunch, silent auction, and live music. Raffle tickets are six for $5.

Volunteers sought for Advanced Care Planning training

BRATTLEBORO - For those passionate about making a positive impact in the lives of others and who want to help individuals navigate the crucial conversations surrounding their values and wishes in times of medical uncertainty, Center for Solace (formerly Brattleboro Area Hospice) is offering a transformative volunteer program focused on Advance Care Planning.

This training program will empower volunteers to assist community members in articulating their end-of-life preferences, ensuring their voices are heard even when they are unable to speak for themselves during medical emergencies. With the invaluable knowledge gained through our training, volunteers will mentor individuals in crafting advance directives and communicating their wishes to loved ones and healthcare providers when they are unable to do so themselves.

Training will take place on July 3 and 10, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Center for Solace, 191 Canal St. Through their program, volunteers will help explore the essential question: "What does living well mean to each of us when faced with significant health challenges?" Involvement can help guide community members toward making informed decisions about their health care, reflecting their values and priorities.

Space is limited, and all are welcome to apply. To reserve a spot and receive more information about this training, contact the Center at 802-257-0775 or [email protected].
