Watercolor exhibit at All Souls Church
WEST BRATTLEBORO - Twenty artists from the Connecticut River Chapter of Vermont Watercolor Society are exhibiting their work at All Souls Church in the West Village Meeting House, 29 South St. through Nov. 30. The public is invited to a free opening reception on Sunday, Sept. 14, from 3 to 5 p.m. Beverages and light refreshments will be served.
With more than 240 members, the Vermont Watercolor Society is dedicated to promoting the awareness and appreciation of watercolor painting to its membership at all levels of ability and to the larger community by providing opportunities and venues for participation, education, fellowship, and exhibitions.
The Connecticut River member hub is composed of more than 80 artists from regions of Vermont and New Hampshire that surround the southern segment of the Connecticut River. This exhibit will feature close to 40 original watercolors by more than 20 artists.

Senior Walk in Guilford
GUILFORD - Guilford Cares' monthly Senior Walk is Tuesday, Sept. 16, at 10:15 a.m.
This walk will require carpooling. Walkers will meet at Christ Church, which is a short distance south of the Guilford Country Store at Melendy Hill Road and Route 5. After a drive to the top of Melendy Hill Road, walkers will amble along Class 4 Roads to observe what organizers call "the precious things Guilford woods have to offer as we anticipate the change of season; a small cliffy ravine, ubiquitous rock walls that evoke past farms, and historic Route 5."

Republicans to meet in Guilford
GUILFORD - A caucus is being convened in the town of Guilford for the purpose of organizing a Republican Town Committee on Tuesday, Sept. 16, at 6 p.m. in the Town Office on School Road. Any interested Guilford resident is invited to attend.

Halifax marks 275 years with weekend celebration
HALIFAX - During the weekend of Sept. 18–21, Halifax will host the celebration of its 275th anniversary of the town's incorporation.
Activities include a petting zoo, parade, music and dancing, a Pinewood Derby, meals, disc golf, games, walks, presentations, and more. Athens Community Center hosts chili cook-off
ATHENS - The Athens Community Center welcomes entries for its third annual chili cook-off to be held Saturday, Sept. 20, at 5 p.m. To enter, contact Krista at [email protected] by Sept. 15.
It's free to enter a chili, with a $5 admission for those who would like to participate in tasting and judging of the chilis at the Center on 28 Brookline Rd.
The first prize chili wins a $100 cash prize, with $50 for second place, and $25 for third place.
BAJC Family Education Program is accepting registrations
WEST BRATTLEBORO - The Brattleboro Area Jewish Community (BAJC) offers three family education programs: Tot Shabbat, Yalla Chaverim, and a Teen Program.
Tot Shabbat meets monthly for a young child–friendly Shabbat service and meal and is geared toward toddlers through kindergartners.
Yalla Chaverim meets one Shabbat morning and one Sunday afternoon per month and is geared toward kindergarten through seventh grade.
The Teen Program meets quarterly, including one overnight, and is geared toward grades 7 through 10.
"BAJC strives to make a Jewish connection with each child's spiritual, intellectual, and emotional needs," they wrote in a new release. "Our staff seek to inspire a love of Jewish learning; an appreciation for holidays, understanding of life cycles, ritual practices, spiritual connection, and ethical living. Along with educating our youth, programs strive to create Jewish community among families."

Bone Builders class coming soon to Dummerston
DUMMERSTON - Green Mountain RSVP, an AmeriCorps Seniors program, hopes to start a Bone Builders class at Dummerston Congregational Church.
Bone Builders is a strength-training class designed to be safe for seniors and can help them improve their balance, strength, bone density, and overall health. Participants must be at least 55, and it is free to attend. Green Mountain RSVP supplies the weights and student manuals.
In order for the class to get started, they need a team of at least three volunteer leaders to teach the class twice a week. No teaching experience is required (although many leaders are retired teachers), and no specific level of fitness is required. Leaders receive initial training and ongoing support from Green Mountain RSVP.
