Boys & Girls Club welcomes new executive director

BRATTLEBORO-The Boys & Girls Club of Brattleboro (BGCB) welcomes a new executive director, Alyssa Hunt. She stepped into this leadership role on July 17, solidifying the club's management team, which includes Director of Operations Lilit Chilingaryan.

In a news release, the BGCB board of directors said Hunt and Chilingaryan "will continue to implement unique skills-based programming for youth that supplement their school-based learning experiences. They will also work with the board of directors to create a fresh vision for the club's future to ensure it meets the changing needs of youth in this community."

Hunt comes to Brattleboro from southern New Jersey to further her decades of work as a youth educator and program designer. Her varied interests have led her to wear many professional hats. Her work with youth-serving and educational organizations includes nonprofit director, grant writer, teacher, and youth programming coordinator.

"Her understanding of collaboration is a notable strength," said BGCB board chair Lisa Ford. "She's a relationship builder and understands that community partners are an organization's most valuable assets. Our partnerships are the secret sauce to creating skilled-based learning opportunities for local youth."

Hunt's work has always focused on helping young people understand their potential as change makers and leaders, today and tomorrow, board members say. Her program designs emphasize building confidence and empowerment through creative expression, skills training, and mentorship.

"We are so grateful for the hard work of our search committee," said Ford. "This diverse group of community members, including club board members, staff, parents, and community leaders, dedicated many months to finding our new leader. As a result, we are stepping into our new year with enthusiasm for all that we will accomplish together as an organization and local community."

"I am deeply honored to be invited to join this organization," Hunt said. "I look forward to connecting with our families, our partners and, most especially, the youth we serve."
